Jesus In a Cage

Mark 4:21-25
He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear." "Consider carefully what you hear," He continued, "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you - and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him."
In today’s culture we get so caught up with protecting our image or our social standing that we put God in this little cage, covered up until Sunday or Wednesday. The media and secular culture tell us that God is not acceptable in everyday life and is something that we are supposed to keep to ourselves. But Jesus spoke on the contrary. He said “Instead you put it on a stand.” We are supposed to put our relationship with God on a stand, out in the open. With that being said, we aren’t supposed to be a modern day Pharisee and pray with big words and empty meanings or only be a Christmas, Easter Christian. But rather we are to be a Christ like example, not scared to stand for what we believe in. We are also called to (heaven forbid) TELL OTHERS about Christ

I also find v.24-25 interesting. It can be taken 2 different ways.
Traditionally it’s said that whatever measures you use to deal with someone it will come back to you full scale and more.

But I would like to think that it’s talking spiritually. With whatever effort you use to share God or spend with God will be returned. I mean if you seek after God whole heartedly you will find him doing the same with you. But if you just sit around waiting on him...well he is doing the same, waiting for you to come to him.

Also in v.25, I think that it’s talking about treasures stored up in heaven. (See Matt. 6:20) Whatever you have stored in heaven, if you serve God continually will be multiplied. And if you don’t seek to serve God and gain more, than what you do have stored in heaven will be taken from you.
So take Jesus out of his cage and put him on the stand in your life. Let others see that part of you and tell them about it so that they might have it to.
